Pleasanton back yard feeder

This morning before the 95 degree temperture's several Oak Wood Land birds appeared in my feeder.
Nuttall's Woodpecker, Oak Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Chestnut-backed Chickadee,
Bushtit's , American Robin's, Western Scrub-Jays, Anna's Hummingbirds, California Towhee's
and the continued calling of a Bullocks Oriole somewhere in the area but not in my yard.
The Barn Owls has taken up residence's and makes several pass's during the midnight hour.

Pleasanton Birds

After a two year absents a Barn Owl has moved in the general area of Black Ave and Santa Rita Rd.
The Coopers Hawks feldged their baby well over a month ago.
The coast is clear , it's now safe for the Barn Owl to return.
A female Hooded Oriole used the bird bath in my back yard on Monday.

Got a whole family of them. Mama and 2 mooching bambinos at Mossbrae Falls. It's at a bend in the river, falls at the outside of the bend, providing good sightlines for predator protection. There's an ample stream of hikers too, so the birds get really tame; certainly the best looks I've had of them. No Black Swifts, but we didn't stay until sunset.

Siskiyou County Tri-Color Black Birds

Outside of the town of Yreka on Oberlin Road (#4721) heading east, you'll find a blackbarry patch in field 30 feet from the fence line, there are nesting Tri-Color Black Birds using the blackbarry patch. I have heard this area has had Bank Swallow colonies in past years.I didn't find any Bank Swallows. Rich Cimino, Alameda County

Dunsmuir Hedge Creek Falls Dipper family

On Thrusday June 25th I made a stop at the Hedge Creek Falls park in Dunsmuir off of HY 5. We walked the trail to the falls and found an adult American Dipper. The bird was making frequent flight's into the falls itself. We did find the nest was to the left of the falls maybe 15 feet up on a ledge. It is a large moss dome shaped nest, maybe 10 inch's at the base. There were two immature American Dippers almost full grown hanging out of the nest. We checked again Friday evening at 7PM and discovered two adults feeding the immature birds. We checked again Sunday at 3 PM and the nest was empty and no adult American Dippers could be found.Rich CiminoAlameda County

Burney Falls State Park

Friday June 26th close to 1PM we had 16 Black Swifts performing in the immediate area of the Falls. We left close to 2PM and the show was still in full force, there was no call note being used. Often the Swift's make a Chik call while flying. Also seen were two American Dippers and one Canyon Wren on the falls.Rich Cimino, Alameda County

Mt Shasta Bird tour with MtShasta Ecocenter group

On June 27th Saturday Julian Colescott of the North State Resources gp., myself and 9 members of the Mt Shasta Ecology Center hike a long the Mc Cloud River starting from Larkin Dam rd. parking area. We had a Merlin in our sights for some time. There are several Ospreys in the area and the Merlin made a harassing pass at an Osprey as we watched.There is also a Willow Flycatcher, many Yellow Warbler, Nashville Warblers and Mac Gillivray's warblers.
