Location: AltmontPassWindResourcePlanning Area - Tour
Observation date: 11/16/09
Notes: Today I tour the closed to public Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area.
I am on the stakeholder planning board to resolve the raptor mortality issues by the wind turbines. We toured today with the new Cal.F&G and California Energy Commission Independent Scientific Review Committee. The land birds were everywhere and in good numbers. Weather was warm and no wind. Blackbirds and Starling were on the wires, grassland birds were seen in various size flocks as we drove along the gravel roads within the wind resource area.
